KantanMT.com, winners of the 2013 Enterprise Ireland ICT award look forward to the launch of their first ever app for iOS and Android users. The free to download app provides an ultra-modern front end for the platform’s API which enables members to launch translation jobs and view reports.

An NUI Galway start-up company, Westway Health Ltd., has recently been announced as the overall winner of the Intertrade Ireland All-Island Seedcorn Investor Readiness Competition – the largest and most prestigious competition in Ireland for early-stage companies.  The prize was announced at an awards ceremony last week in Dublin where it was announced that Westway Health had beaten over 300 other entrants to receive the €100,000 first prize from Minister for Small Business, Mr John Perry, T.D.

Westway Health was founded as a spinout from NUI Galway from the laboratory of Prof Vincent O’Flaherty, Head of School of Natural Sciences.  Westway Health is developing a range of non-antibiotic anti-microbial technologies to fight a number of diseases. Its lead product in development, PanaMastTM LC, is for the treatment of bovine mastitis and aims to be the world’s first zero withdrawal mastitis treatment allowing farmers for the first time to sell their milk during treatment.

Medical device invented by NUI Galway-based firm Apica Cardiovascular has potential to revolutionise treatment for heart disease.
