Company to create 20 new roles over next two years including a number of specialised material science and extrusion positions

DiaNia Technologies, an innovative materials technology company based in Galway, has secured €2 million in seed-funding to utilise materials science to facilitate the development of disruptive catheter based medical devices.

The investment was led by four key investors - Helen Ryan, Liam Farrissey, Ian Quinn and Gearóid Faherty - and also included the HBAN’s Medtech Business Angel Syndicate and Enterprise Ireland.

EU Research and Innovation Commission Carlos Moedas Pocket Anatomy, TNW 2014 European Best Tech StartUp, is a mobile medical software solution that saves hospitals time, money and resources by providing a visual aid for doctors to explain medical procedures and conditions to patients. With significant success to date in consumer sales to medical students worldwide (B2C), the company is now expanding its focus to the US hospital market (B2B). On 23 January, Bournemouth University will host an international conference that aims to improve how students use technology and interact online. Called the Digital Citizenship Summit UK (DigCitSummitUK), it is a unique conference geared towards safe, savvy, and ethical use of social media and tech.

“Digital Citizenship” is an umbrella term used to describe the expectations of being a digital citizen in regards to ethics, etiquette, rights, and responsibilities. Common topics that are discussed include cyberbullying, empathy online, trolls, security, savvy use of social media, and online reputation. Digital Citizenship Summit UK will feature a diverse range of prominent educational, parenting, and industry leaders, including four American speakers from the inaugural Digital Citizenship Summit held in the United States last October.
